Just a friendly reminder that we will be trying out the ALES5J contest format at the contest June 13 in Columbus.

All the rules are same as ALES, except that you may adjust your launch altitude to gain points. This can be done by adjusting your standard CAM to 100 or 150 m, rather than the 200 m standard ALES launch height. For the most fun, an F5J type limiter is the ticket. These units (CAM F5J or Altis) allow the pilot to shut the motor burn down at will using the arming switch, and record the launch altitude 10 seconds after shut down. You can then read the launch height upon landing for entry into the score sheet. Lets give it a try!

Thanks go out to Curtis for providing us with his special new spreadsheet to score, and to the HFT for pioneering this format.

Hope to see plenty of pilots out in June. It will be a good warm up event for the HFT two-day (three-day??) contest at the end of the month.

Carl
