Nice!
I am happy to hand off anything to someone from Helena coming down as I will be around the Great Lakes area of the USA at that time.

Hey guys,
Just for fun, for the May contest I’d like to try running a true F5J using F3X Vault for scoring. In preparation for that I have created a dummy test contest, and have worked through all the set up procedures on F3X Vault. I was able to create a draw using 6 pilots, and to enter scores by scanning the QR code with my phone and also manually through F3X. The results calc’d and it looks like everything is working. I will make a run out to Scotts’ to check the cell signal at some point next week. Anyone interested in tagging along please advise.
Registration for the contest will be online at F3X Vault. If you do not have a user account consider creating one in advance. There is not cost and it only takes a minute.
At this point I do not plan to run the contest by the computer. If someone from Helena is able to bring their sound system, or if I find an alternative, this could change.
F5J limiters will not be required, but I think F5J is much more fun with the real deal! If you want to buy an F5J limiter, be sure to get one that allows motor restart, since this is standard for the US F5J tour and also FAI events currently. I use a very simple CAM F5J, available at SUSA and other sources. When using one of these be sure to set up the PWM signal rates to the manufacturer’s recommended figures to avoid unwanted motor shut downs or restarts! I have documentation on this if anyone needs it. Randy lists settings for several radio manufacturers in the instruction sheet.
If using a standard limiter you may set it to any start altitude desired. Remember the F5J launch height penalty will be active, same as it is when we fly our ALES5J.
The only difference from ALES5J will be that going over working time on landing will result in a zero score for the landing. You want to be on the ground at 9:59 or SOONER!
