I have the privilege of helping out with layups, cutting wing cores, and getting things into the vacuum bags. I thought some of you might like the boom winder that Bob has built for the project. Photos attached. It uses a geared down stepper motor powered by 3S LiPo, and driven by a home built solid state controller. Bob even built a gas pedal for foot operated speed control to wind the mylar tape over the layup. Have made 3 booms to date with carbon “sock” then fiberglass sock on top. They all weigh 70 grams and are stiff as baseball bats! We already have a batch of Jim Loughren small pods waiting for the booms!
