I thought you might get a kick out of these pics.  This is a Guillows Fokker built in the early 1960’s by my Dad and still in the original tissue and dope covering.  Found it tucked away in the rafters of his shop after he passed.  I built a Stearman in yellow Navy cadet colors at the same time, but it met its untimely demise at the hands of a large sugar maple!  No photos of that one.  LOL!  We flew these models FF with Cox .020 motors and they flew pretty well.  No DT was used!

I have thought about recovering and finishing the Fokker, but on the other hand I like the original patina and Dad’s hand painted lettering on the fuse side.

I was just talking with Brad J. about balsa kits.  As you know he’s doing the Yellow Jacket and I’ve expressed some interest in it and the new TALES.
So thinking back, I probably put together 50 different Comet, Gillows and other balsa/tissue kits in my youth.  Great fun.  I don’t see those kits around any more.  No surprise, I guess.  I do remember that the rubber motor kits didn’t fly too well…but I sure had fun building them.
