Greg,
  What do you think about this for Art instead of the Shadow2? He might like the plug and play aspect better.

Hmmm, at first glance this seems like a superb deal.  I think the following information is true, however;

John originally posted this to rcgroups<https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?3236583-4M-Xplorer-windy-plane> as an F3J Xplorer with the nose chopped off for a motor. It weighs a somewhat portly 64 oz RTF with a Neu motor, ESC, and I assume some type of LiPo battery.

This is the first version of the Xplorer 3 F3J (I bet it still has a tow hook), so it can take any kind of winch launch or hand tow you can throw at it without fear of butterflying the wings.

Later versions of the Xplorer 3 (and the Explorer F5J) have a taller vertical stab/rudder.

It's still a pretty good deal, depending on what you're looking for, it's just not a true Explorer F5J (spelled with an 'E') - those generally come in under 45 oz with motor, ESC, and 800mAH LiPo.

John Hsu is a very nice guy, and I would not hesitate to do business with him.

Some guys from Denver were next to us on the flight line at the Southwest Classic F5J contest in Arizona last weekend. One of them had this very nice electric Explorer he wanted to sell, and showed it to me. I agreed to put it out here for your consideration. Here’s the skinny:

  * 4 meter Explorer, electric version
  * includes airframe, servos and bag (You will need a motor, prop, spinner, ESC, batteries and receiver.)
  * some minor damage expertly repaired by Lenny Keer - the owner said the repair added less than an ounce
  *   contact:

asking $1,100.00

John lives in a very small apartment. He has just taken delivery on a couple Ultima 2’s, and no longer has room for this glider. The plane looked very clean and well maintained to me. I think the airframe alone was about $2,000.00 new. Looks like a great buy and value for someone. Still a very competitive airframe.

If you call John, please mention this post. Thanks!

Carl
